This year we're screening Kangaroo (PG), the Australian family comedy that had the whole country smiling. Ryan Corr stars as Chris Masterman, a washed up TV weatherman whose car breaks down in a small outback town. When he rescues an orphaned joey from the roadside, he teams up with Charlie, a 12 year old local girl with a special knack for kangaroos, and the unlikely pair set about rehabilitating orphaned joeys together.
Inspired by the true story of Chris 'Brolga' Barns and the famous Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs, it's full of heart, laughs and sweeping outback landscapes. Watching it out here on the Mundi Mundi Plains? Hard to think of a better setting. Also starring Deborah Mailman, Ernie Dingo and newcomer Lily Whiteley. Runtime 1 hour 47 minutes.
The Big Screen Movie takes place on Tuesday 18 August, exclusively for 3 Day and 2 Day Early Entry Vehicle Pass holders. You must be on site by then to attend. Learn more about Early Entry passes.

In previous years the Big Screen Movie has featured films that celebrate the Australian spirit, including Headliners (ABC documentary following musicians living with disability, culminating in a live performance at the Bash) and Tracks, the critically acclaimed film based on Robyn Davidson's epic 2,700km solo trek across the Australian desert.
