About the Campground

Your Base Camp in Broken Hill

The Broken Hill Racecourse is the official overflow camping area for Mundi Mundi Bash. If you can't find (or can't afford) accommodation in Broken Hill, this is your best option — a dedicated camping area right at the Racecourse, just a short drive from Mundiville. It's also a convenient first stop on the way in.

🎟️ Ticket collection is on site. If you opted for e-tickets, you must exchange them for physical wristbands and vehicle stickers at the Ticketing Office here before heading to Mundiville.

⚠️ Please note: Camping at Mundiville during the festival is free and included in your ticket. The Racecourse is for those staying in Broken Hill before and/or after the Bash.

Good to Know

Before You Arrive

A few important things to be across before rolling into the Racecourse or heading on to Mundiville.

Broken Hill is Busy
  • The town's population nearly doubles during Bash week — expect traffic and queues
  • Think before you park — don't block driveways or residential streets
  • Be aware of temporary event speed limits around town
  • Don't leave rubbish in town bins — use the Broken Hill Waste Facility if needed
No Roadside Camping
  • Only stay in designated camping areas — no roadside camping
  • No camping between Broken Hill and Mundiville — you will be moved on
  • Other dump points: Kintore Reserve and Visitor Info Centre (23-27 Bromide St)
Medical & Services
  • Several chemists, medical clinics and a hospital in Broken Hill
  • Services will be extremely stretched during Bash week — don't rely on them
  • Restock medications and address health issues before you leave home
Prep Before Leaving BH
  • Top up drinking water — there is none at Mundiville
  • Empty blackwater cassettes at the dump point before rolling in
  • Fill up with fuel — nearest fuel to Mundiville is back in Broken Hill
  • Let family and friends know you'll be out of mobile reception

Frequently Asked

Racecourse Camping FAQs
Do I need to book to camp at the Racecourse? +

Yes — pre-purchase is essential and we recommend booking early as campsites are limited. Campsites are booked per vehicle (not per person) and the ticket covers camping for all occupants. A booking must be made for every vehicle staying. Once purchased, tickets are not refundable or transferable.

I'm camping at the Racecourse — should I get my tickets delivered? +

If you're camping at the Broken Hill Racecourse before the Bash, we recommend collecting your Mundi Mundi Bash tickets from the Ticketing Office at the Racecourse — you'll be there anyway, so there's no need to pay for mail delivery.

What do I need to do if I have e-tickets? +

If you have e-tickets, you MUST exchange them for physical wristbands and vehicle stickers at the Ticketing Office at the Racecourse BEFORE heading to Mundiville. Car passes must be stuck to the outside of your windscreen on the passenger side, and wristbands must be worn at all times. Post-festival campers must exchange their e-ticket before the festival as the ticketing office will not be open post-event.

Can I dump my blackwater cassette at the Racecourse? +

Yes — there are two dump points available at the Racecourse, accessible for big rigs, motorhomes, or you can walk up with your canister. There is no charge for campers. There is also a free dump point at the Visitor Information Centre in town.

Is there a transfer bus from Broken Hill to Mundiville? +

Yes — a privately-operated transfer bus service runs between Broken Hill and Mundiville during the Bash. Pricing and timetable will be available closer to the event. See the Day Tripping page for details.

Are there showers or powered sites at the Racecourse? +

There are limited shower facilities — depending on where you are camped, it may be a 500m walk to the closest block. Powered sites are available but limited and not large enough for big rigs. If you require power with a large rig, book 2 × powered sites.
